Chocolate was first consumed as an invigorating spiced, bitter drink by Olmec, Mayan and Aztec peoples in Central and South America. After grinding the cacao with a stone, spices and chilis were added to the fermented cacao pulp mixture, which was drunk for vitality, health, and virility.
Combining our own house blend of warm, fragrant spices with the heat of locally grown chili pepper, it creates a cozy, warming cup that melts smoothly when stirred into hot water, milk, vegan mylks, or coffee and espresso drinks. Since we use whole ground botanicals, some sediment at the bottom of the cup is natural.
